The glass sculpture Kosmír crowns the reconstruction of the entrance to the open-air cinema in Rakovník.
The piece consists of four triangular segments of clear reflective Stopsol glass with fused dichroic foil. This combines to form a light, self-supporting structure reminiscent of a crystal floating in open space. The varying glints and reflections mean that when moving around the object, the colours change from yellow, orange, and green tones to shades of blue, while the night-time violet-pink lighting highlights its calm, shimmering quality.
Its sensitive yet moderate design captures the attention with changes in daily and annual rhythms and actively resonates with the place for which it was created. Inspiration was taken from the historical line of ornamental plant and symmetrical architectural finials that top the roofs, towers, and columns, perceived as being both decorative and symbols of protection and good fortune.
